Coatesville man faces two charges of attempted murder, other charges

The Chester County District Attorney confirms a second person was shot in the incident involving a Coatesville man who allegedly shot a woman, after she accidentally bumped him at a local market.

Prosecutors say Moenell Coleman, 25, not only shot the woman involved in the bumping incident on Jan. 26 at the Coatesville Market, but another person who was sleeping inside the woman's home. Both victims were shot in the leg, with the second victim hit as they ran upstairs.

According to the DA's office, after the woman bumped into Coleman, he told her, “(Expletive), I will shoot you in your (expletive) face,” and put his hand in his pocket. He then allegedly followed the woman and kept threatening her as she went to her car.

Prosecutors say that he followed her home, and as she ran toward her house's front door and opened it, he shot her. He allegedly shot through the house's front door, storm door and back bedroom wall.

Coleman has been held on $1 million bail.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have arrested the man whom they say shot a woman in Chester County over an innocent bump.

Moenell Coleman, 25 from Coatesville, is in custody after he followed a woman home and shot her because they mistakenly bumped into one another at a local market, according to investigators.

Police said the incident happened just before 10 a.m. on January 26 at the Coatesville Market on East Lincoln Highway.

According to investigators, they bumped into each other and the woman apologized, but Coleman became enraged and threatened to shoot her, then followed her out of the store.

Police said she drove home, but Coleman followed her and approached the front door.

When she opened the door, he fired several shots, hitting her in the leg.

She suffered a graze wound which was treated at the scene.

Coleman faces two charges of attempted murder, along with aggravated assault and other crimes.
