PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — During a deadly stretch of gun violence in Philadelphia Thursday night, four people were killed in separate shootings in a matter of about four hours.
The first incident was a double shooting in Olney. Around 7:30 p.m., police said two men in their 30s were shot inside a house in the area of Third Street and Nedro Avenue.
The shooting happened on the first floor, where officers found one of the victims by the doorway. Police found the second victim about a half-block away on Champlost Avenue.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, where they died shortly thereafter. During the investigation of the home, police found weapons in the house.
“We found six guns — four handguns and two rifles,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We’re not certain which, if any, of these two victims lived inside of the property or if they were just visiting.”

There was another person inside the home when police arrived. He was not wounded, and he claims he did not witness the shooting. He was taken in for further questioning.
The second shooting happened three hours later. A 36-year-old man was wounded in the arm, but police are not sure where he was when he was shot.
He ran over to a home on East Ontario Street in Kensington, knocked on the door, and told the person inside that he had been shot. Police arrived and the victim was taken to the hospital, where he died.
The third shooting happened at 11:30 p.m. at Rising Sun Avenue, near Cheltenham Avenue, in Crescentville. Police found a wounded man on the sidewalk. He died at the hospital as well.
The unidentified victim is known to hang around the area frequently. Police are not sure of a motive.
These violent few hours happened as homicides in the city are down 23% compared to a year ago, according to city data as of Friday morning. Even with signs of progress, the city is still on pace to have one of its deadliest years in recent history.
