PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two people are dead and another person is critically injured after a shooting at a Chinese takeout restaurant in Southwest Philadelphia Tuesday night.
Around 11:30 p.m., two men went to the Shangri-La restaurant at 54th Street and Chester Avenue in the Kingsessing neighborhood and fired at least 16 shots, according to the initial police report.
Officers responded to 911 calls and found the victims unconscious.
“All three victims were suffering from gunshot wounds. All were lying on the floor in the customer takeout area,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Two of them, a 19-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, died at the hospital. The other victim, a 20-year-old man, was critically injured and is clinging to life.
“We don’t know who the intended target is or if any of them were struck by stray gunfire,” Small added.
A motive is not clear. It is not immediately known if the victims knew each other. Police said all three lived close to the restaurant.
