PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are trying to identify a dirt bike rider who they say was part of a crowd throwing bricks and bottles at officers Sunday night in Northern Liberties.

It happened shortly after 8 p.m. at the Lukoil gas station on Delaware Avenue, between Fairmount Avenue and Spring Garden Street.

Officers responded to a large group of bikers riding around the gas station. One of them crashed his dirt bike by the gas pumps and fled on foot. Police recovered the bike and learned it had been reported stolen in New Jersey.

While officers were apprehending the stolen bike, authorities said the crowd circled the officers and threw objects at them and their cars, including bricks and bottles.

One police car was kicked repeatedly, and the windshield was damaged.

The group of bikers fled.

Officials are looking for at least one suspect seen in surveillance and body cam video. He was wearing a black balaclava face mask, red hoodie and black sweatpants, and he was riding a red and white dirt bike.
