PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia said a dog was stolen from its North Philadelphia shelter Monday afternoon.

The dog, named Withers, was taken right out of a kennel.

ACCT Philly said officials filed a police report but hope the public can help track down the person, as they are concerned for the dog’s “welfare and safety.”

In a Facebook post, ACCT Philly said Withers “has an adopter who has been coming to the shelter for weeks for the right dog and is heartbroken.”
