Former Eagle Chris Maragos sues medical team over 2017 career-ending knee injury

Former teammates, including Nick Foles, set to testify

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is back in Philly this week, but not to play football.

He is testifying in court on behalf of former Eagles player Chris Maragos, who says a doctor improperly treated a knee injury following a 2017 hit during a game against the Carolina Panthers.

Maragos, 35, is suing a Pittsburgh doctor and the Eagles’ medical team at Rothman Orthopedics, claiming their misdiagnosis and treatment cost him his career as a football player.

Defense lawyers argue the doctors did all they could for Maragos, but it was a fall during his rehab that resulted in the irreversible injury.

A number of former teammates, including Foles, Trey Burton and Jordan Hicks, are expected to testify during the trial.

It is expected to last two weeks.
