PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Eagles are hosting an open practice for fans Sunday evening at Lincoln Financial Field, the first such event they've held since 2019. However, it comes with a number of COVID-19 precautions.
A sign in front of one of the entrances to the Linc welcomes fans to Eagles training camp.
This is the first time the team has been able to say or do such in almost two years when it comes to hosting guests at practice.
Vicky made the trek from North Wales to South Philadelphia for a Sunday filled with Philly sports. "Finally tailgating after a year and a half of being in quarantine," she shared.
She said the football season crept up on her, and she didn't even realize she could already get a glimpse of her Birds in action.
"[We're] initially just here to go to the Phillies game, but you may have convinced us that we may be going to the Eagles practice after the game," said Vicky.
While there are no COVID-19 capacity limits, fans who come out to the 7 p.m. open practice are going to be in for a few changes.
There are sanitation stations throughout the stadium, all transactions will be cashless, and unvaccinated people will need to wear a mask when they are not eating or drinking.
But for fans like Vicky, mandates and restrictions mean nothing when it comes to being able to watch Philly sports live.
"I'm super excited," she said. "I'm a huge Philly sports fan, so this is it. This is like the mecca of Philly sports right now."
Tickets for the event are $10, with all proceeds going to the Eagles Autism Foundation. Another open practice is planned for August 22.
