PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A former Southwest Airlines pilot has been charged for exposing himself mid-air on a flight from Philadelphia to Orlando last summer.
Authorities say Michael Haak was flying somewhere over Maryland when he exposed himself in some manner — no details of how or why were available to the public.
While Haak was commanding Southwest Airlines Flight WN 6607 on Aug. 10, 2020, federal officials allege he “intentionally committed an act of lewd, indecent and obscene exposure of his genitals in public.”
A statement from the airline said Haak isn’t with Southwest anymore and actually left the company before it was aware of the investigation.
“The event was recently brought to our attention and we’ve cooperated with the appropriate outside agencies as they investigate,” the statement read. “Southwest Airlines takes all matters related to workplace conduct very seriously, with a well-defined policy and reporting process for harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims. Our corporate Culture is built upon treating others with mutual respect and dignity, and the events alleged in this situation are inconsistent with the behavior that we require of our Employees.”
