PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Five people were hit in a drive-by shooting in North Philadelphia on Tuesday night, according to police.
It happened around 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of East Wyoming Avenue and D Street in the Feltonville neighborhood, where Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said there was a vigil taking place related to another shooting on July 5.
Two women and three men were taken to the hospital. They range in age from 18 to 55, said Outlaw. In the most serious injury, the 55-year-old was shot in the face, while the others, an 18-year-old and three 23-year-olds, were hit in the extremities.
All are in stable condition, the commissioner said.
Outlaw said there were several shooters in a white Jeep, which was found abandoned three blocks away. Three guns were retrieved from the vehicle, she said.
Police say they have made no arrests at this time. Outlaw said police believe there is a connection between the July 5 shooting and Tuesday's drive-by shooting.
