Welcome to Bridging Philly: new year, new goals, better focus

A KYW Newsradio original program
Bridging Philly

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Happy New Year! By now, you’re probably focused on following through with your plans for 2022. Perhaps you’ve resolved to make improvements in your life or to just be healthier overall.

We are doing the same thing here at KYW Newsradio, and we believe the change will result in a clearer focus and more resources for the people who need them.

Flashpoint, the community affairs program you’ve come to know and love, is now called Bridging Philly.

The name change reflects our clear intention to bridge the gaps of information that exist right here in our great city.

Over the years, hundreds of community groups and organizations that exist only to help others have looked to Flashpoint to help convey their message to the community. This will not change — however, we do intend to offer more variety and rich, diverse experiences with more organizations and topics that will hopefully allow us all to learn, grow and heal.

Our panel discussions will continue to tackle the hard issues and host conversations that may sometimes be difficult, but necessary. On our next show, we’ll help you get your finances in order as we talk with an area expert about student loans and the best way to get out from under. We’ll look at federal student loan repayment plans, consolidation and default rehabilitation.

KYW Newsradio’s Racquel Williams hosts Bridging Philly’s panel discussions, while Shara Dae Howard brings us the newsmaker of the week, and Antionette Lee shines a light on changemakers. Arian Fulcher is the coordinating producer of the program.

Information is powerful, and as purveyors of such, this KYW Newsradio team wants to make sure that regardless of any divide or gap, we can be a sustaining support system. So, whether you’re in Philly, the ’burbs or South Jersey, we will continue to connect our communities on the issues that matter to you.

Cross the bridge with us and make a connection!
