PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This weekend on Flashpoint, host Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about coping with COVID-19 isolation during the holidays.
Medical professionals have advised against traveling this Christmas and have urged families to keep celebrations small and limited to individuals in their own household. 35 million Americans live alone. How do you cope?
Licensed psychologist Dr. Eric Spiegel gives tips on staving off the coronavirus holiday blues, and Fredricka Maister explains how she overcame them, despite living alone in a new city.

The newsmaker of the week is education. A recent report shows that children in grades 1-8 have lost about a percentage point of progress in reading but have fared far worse in math, and minority students have lost time due to COVID-19 distanced learning. Families who can afford it have made accommodations, including hiring private teachers and sharing expenses with other families.
But what about those who cannot afford it? Sandra Dungee Glenn discusses the Philadelphia Community Stakeholders Learning Pods and Parent Resource Center at Bible Way Baptist Church in West Philadelphia.

The Patriot Homecare Changemaker of the week is Sisterhood Inc. Founder Rev. Dr. Hilda Covington joins the show to discuss the South Jersey based nonprofit's 26 years of service. This Christmas, the group launched "Dolls for Daughters" toy drive to collect dolls for girls in need. They will be collecting dolls through December 22.
