PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — After nearly three years on the loose, one of Philadelphia's most wanted fugitives has been arrested in Delaware County.

Gregory Burnett, 37, wanted for a 2020 murder in West Philadelphia, was arrested on Tuesday morning in Darby without incident, said Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal.

She said a 31-year-old man was shot and killed on the 5000 block of Merion Avenue, near 50th Street and Lancaster Avenue, on Aug. 16, 2020. The Sheriff's Fugitive Warrant unit, U.S. Marshals and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit were seeking Burnett for his alleged involvement. He now faces murder and weapons charges.

Bilal credits Philadelphia's Most Wanted List and the public's involvement for getting Burnett off the streets.

Bilal said anyone with information about where other fugitives are hiding should contact authorities right away.

“When you see this person, you know where they are — they have to sleep somewhere — you need to let us know, so that we can get them off the streets,” Bilal said.

"To the grandmoms, the mamas, to the girlfriends, the friend friends — look, you don't want this smoke coming to your house. Turn them in, so you will be safe — and so will the citizens of this city.”
