Callowhill veterinary clinic now offering walk-in services

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pets are like children: They get sick or injured at the most inopportune times. Fortunately for Philly residents, veterinary clinic Heart + Paw is now welcoming urgent care services at its Callowhill location.

Partner Dr. Amber Karwacki said they are delighted to offer this service because every vet has had the experience of not being able to accommodate every patient that needs them.

“We field these calls every day, and it is something that we feel bad about if we have a full schedule,” she said. “Every vet tries to squeeze that one more patient in.”

Walk-ins are now open at any time to any pet parent, regardless of whether or not they have previously been to Heart + Paw. Patients will be seen as soon as possible.

Karwacki said some illnesses or injuries require immediate treatment.

“Diarrhea and vomiting could have them getting into dehydration status,” she explained. “Some injuries can become very infected and that can cause problems all throughout the body, so catching these things early usually means a shorter time of treatment and a much better outcome.”

If you can’t quite get your dog or cat to the vet because of scheduling issues, or you’re traveling with your pet, regular patients can visit any one of Heart + Paw’s offices along the East Coast. Pet records can be looked up at any Heart + Paw location.

The Callowhill office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
