Jefferson Health adds 240K square feet with Silvestri Tower in Washington Township

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Jefferson Health today unveiled a $184 million addition to the hospital in Washington Township. Patient comfort was the top priority for the project.

The new Silvestri Tower is seven stories tall, state of the art, 240,000 square feet, with private patient rooms packed with technology.

Jefferson Health New Jersey CEO Brian Sweeney says people will be able to adjust the temperature and colors of the room to feel more comfortable during their stay. There’s also room for family to stay with their loved ones.

"A lot of our patients have been with us for years getting all types of different services, and so it’s a real upgrade from their perspective," Sweeney said. "And we’re really happy to be able to make that commitment to Washington Township and Gloucester County."

Sweeney says the tower also includes a new main entrance with a two-story lobby, a new cafeteria with outdoor dining. The new HVAC system was one of the things added because of COVID-19.

"And so, for example, we created more isolation rooms, because who knows when the next pandemic may be," he said.

There’s also a new rooftop helipad for medical emergencies.
