PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you are thinking about getting your children vaccinated before the start of school, now is the time.
The CDC has been alerting physicians to remind their patients with children 12 and older that it is time to seriously consider the vaccine before the start of school.
Current estimates show about one in three children in the 12 to 17 age group have been vaccinated.
So, why the push now? If you do the math, it takes five weeks for a child to be fully vaccinated. If your child got vaccinated today, they would not be fully protected until the end of the summer.
Remember, the vaccine doesn’t just protect the child who is vaccinated but also helps slow down the spread of the virus, including the Delta variant.
