KYW Medical Report: How companies are dealing with burnout

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Companies throughout the country are developing programs to help employees deal with burnout. If you think about it, burnout is affecting employees from the mailroom to the c-suite.

These programs are extremely important, but many may be missing a key point: It is not enough to battle burnout, but it may be worth moving from battling burnout to finding joy.

Health care has been hit hard by burnout, and one organization, the Permanente Medical Group, is focusing on three areas: time constraints, technology and outside regulation.

According to the group, helping employees work with these barriers can reduce burnout. Finding joy is associated with looking at the barriers and finding out why they are so problematic — and making changes.
