PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — When it comes to the spread of disease, the world is becoming a smaller place.
If you are not convinced that we are a global society, all you have to do is look at the spread of the most efficient COVID-19 variant. The B.1.1.7 variant, which originated in the U.K., has become the dominant strain in the U.S.
But there is good news: All three vaccines authorized in the U.S. — Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson — are believed to work well even against the U.K. variant.
There is a major take-home message from this information: We can reduce the development of new and potentially more dangerous variants by encouraging as many people as possible to get vaccinated, not just in the U.S. but around the world.
