PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The impact of COVID-19 on mental health has been dramatic, and major health organizations are stressing the need for outreach.
The American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Family Physicians have all highlighted depression and anxiety as major health issues that have been ignored in many cases, as a significant percentage of people are still afraid to reach out.
Certainly, fears of COVID-19 exposure are on some people’s minds, but for many, there is still a denial of mental health issues or a fear of stigma for reaching out.
The truth is we all have ways that we cope with anxiety and depression, but you are not alone if you feel the emotional strain. In fact, it could easily be argued that after almost two years of the pandemic, you are in the majority.
Reach out and get help.
