LANSDALE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Christopher LaRue, 44, of Lansdale, who pleaded guilty to robbing a bank in Perkasie in October 2020 and attempting to shoot a Pennsylvania State Police trooper in the head will spend the next 25 years in federal prison.
After the bank robbery, police tracked the money to LaRue’s job site in Conshohocken. As the trooper tried to take him into custody, authorities say, LaRue pulled a .32 Automatic, pointed it over his shoulder at the trooper’s head, said “Do you want to die today?” and pulled the trigger.
But the gun didn’t fire, and LaRue was taken into custody.
Federal officials say LaRue was on supervised release at the time after having served a lengthy prison sentence for a string of bank robberies in 2009.
U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams says the sentencing “is especially poignant,” coming just days after two Pa. State Police troopers were killed on I-95 while helping a man who was walking in the left lane.
