PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 41-year-old man, accused of stealing a piece of historic brass railing from the exterior of City Hall in December, is facing charges of burglary, vandalism, theft and related offenses, as well as two counts of possession of an instrument of crime.

Officials say Raymond Shendock took some of the railing on the southeast side of the building on Dec. 8, estimated to have a value between $15,000 and $20,000.

Police arrested Shendock for a separate alleged theft in progress incident on Friday on the 2300 block of Market Street. Shendock and another man, 33-year-old Mario Ford are alleged to have attempted to steal wiring from an air conditioning unit in a building they were not authorized to enter, possibly for resale.

For the Jan. 6 incident, each man is charged with burglary, vandalism, theft and related offenses, as well as two counts of possession of an instrument of crime.
