PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An attempted carjacking in Stenton Wednesday left two men injured — both the victim and the suspect.

Police say it happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Rodney Street near Vernon Road.

A 69-year-old man was unloading groceries from his car when he was approached by an armed 24-year-old man, who said to him, “This is a robbery.”

The two got into a struggle, but the victim was able to take control of the gun. During the struggle, however, the suspect was shot in the abdomen.

The 69-year-old man suffered a bite on his hand but didn’t seek medical treatment.

Authorities say the suspect was arrested and is in stable condition at the hospital.
