Man lights himself on fire at Atlantic City gas station

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A man lit himself on fire at an Atlantic City gas station Friday night, according to police.

Atlantic City police said on social media a 24-year-old from Somers Point, New Jersey doused himself with rubbing alcohol before setting himself on fire with a lighter. It happened at the Gulf gas station on Atlantic Avenue near North Arkansas Avenue.

The man entered the gas station's convenience store, starting multiple small fires. After leaving the store, a station attendant put the flames out with a fire extinguisher.

Officers arrived just after midnight and found the man with severe burns. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police have not identified the man. Calls to Atlantic City police were not immediately returned.
