PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police have more questions than answers about a gunshot victim who drove himself to a Wawa in East Torresdale.

Authorities still don’t know exactly where the man was shot.

They believe it happened somewhere on Frankford Avenue, south of Academy Road, around 11:30 Wednesday night.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said they are examining his car, which was in the Wawa parking lot.

“We know the victim drove himself to this Wawa,” Small said. “We found his vehicle, which was a Range Rover SUV, and in the driver’s seat, there is a large amount of blood. That Range Rover was clearly struck at least seven times by gunfire in the driver door and driver door window.”

Medics took the 39-year-old victim to the hospital, where he is in critical condition. Police hope to talk to him once he is stabilized.
