Argument leads to shooting outside Chickie's & Pete's in Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police said that an argument led to a man being shot outside a Chickie's & Pete's restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia. That victim, 23, was listed in critical but stable condition.

The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. Thursday night on Mulberry Street near Robbins Street by Frankford Avenue, according to authorities.

Police told KYW Newsradio that the incident began with an argument inside the restaurant, and someone with a license to carry a firearm pulled out their gun. The argument then escalated outside.

According to police, about eight shots were fired. The victim was hit in the abdomen. He was first taken to Jefferson-Frankford Hospital, but he was to be transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital for more treatment.

The private vehicle in which the victim arrived at Jefferson-Frankford Hospital was being held, police said.

There was no initial arrest or recovery of a weapon on scene, according to police.
