PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Medford Township, New Jersey man is facing murder charges in the death of his wife.

On March 21, police arrived at the Regent Court home that 40-year-old Babu Natarajan shared with his wife Angammal Babu and their two young children and found the woman unconscious and unresponsive on the bed.

Police say Natarajan called 911 and told police his wife was tired and went to bed. The Burlington County medical examiner, however, said the autopsy tells another story.

Her cause of death was due to compression of her neck, and her death was ruled a homicide.

Authorities said the children were not home at the time.

Natarajan was taken into custody on Thursday and now faces first-degree murder charges.

He is being held in the Burlington County Jail pending a detention hearing.
