PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you look at any survey about the impact of health on success in school, there are two things that are at the top: getting the proper amount of sleep and eating a nutritious breakfast.
As far as sleep is concerned, there needs to be consistency whenever possible — a set bedtime and a sleep environment free of TV, computers and portable devices.
As for a good breakfast, make sure you include some protein. On those days when everyone is in a rush or your child oversleeps, have a grab-and-go treat like a granola bar.
Start all of this at the beginning of the school year. It will make a big difference.
