Medical Report: If you get COVID-19, what are the chances you will get it again?

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There is no doubt that COVID-19 mutates and changes — particularly with its omicron variants. The virus keeps writing new chapters, but here is what we know in the summer of 2022.

If you are vaccinated and boosted, you can be quite certain that you are less likely to be hospitalized or die from COVID-19, but you still can get infected. If you have had a case of COVID, you can get it again. Currently, the thought is there might be a two-month grace period, but it is not guaranteed.

This is not unusual for coronaviruses — many of which cause colds. They circulate, mutate and come back for more. Vaccines will continue to be developed, COVID-19 will continue to mutate, and the hope is that future strains are weaker
