2 men wounded in North Philly shooting

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting Friday evening at a football field near Temple University's main campus.

Authorities say two adults were shot while in the stands watching students practice on the football field off 11th Street near Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

"What we’ve learned so far by looking at video in the area is there was a group of males watching both the kids practice for the Blackhawks [youth football team] and also Saint Joe's Hawks students practicing lacrosse," said Capt. John Walker.

That’s when police got the call around 6 p.m. that shots had been fired.

"It appears to be some type of argument — we're not sure what it was over — between these two adults," Walker explained. "One of the adults, as he walks away, pulls out a gun and fired at the male he was arguing with."

That 36-year-old was struck in the hand. Then more shots were fired at other men on the bleachers. A 35-year-old man was shot in the hip.

Both victims were taken to Temple University Hospital where they were listed in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
