Mount Holly man pleads guilty to federal bank fraud charges

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A Mount Holly man has pleaded guilty to federal charges of bank fraud.

Jamere Hill-Birdsong, 33, admitted to his role in a conspiracy that stole victim’s identities and more than half a million dollars, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Philip Selinger.

Federal authorities say Hill-Birdsong worked in the call center of a bank in Mount Holly and he recruited other employees to steal personal information from customers who called for help with their accounts. He then sent that information to a man in the Bronx, New York, and the duo made fake documents with pictures included to eventually make cash withdrawals.

Lamar Melhado, a co-defendant, was sentenced earlier this year to four years in federal prison. Hill-Birdsong will be sentenced in March.
