NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 72-inch water main break prompted a citywide emergency order in Newark Tuesday morning amid another day of scorching temperatures.
The break happened at Clifton and Mill streets in Belleville and is impacting four of the city’s five wards: the North, West, South and Central, according to Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé.
Video shows large amounts of water bubbling up from the ground near the site of the break.
Tuesday's high temperature in Newark is forecast to be 97 degrees, which will feel more like 105, according to AccuWeather.

City residents are advised to boil water until further notice, while the city will deliver water door to door. Summer school programs are also canceled.
The city warned some people would experience low water pressure or a total lack of water service until the Department of Water and Sewer Utilities has repaired the break.
