
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is making masks optional at its suburban schools, effective Feb. 28.

The new rule doesn’t apply to its schools in the city of Philadelphia, which remain under the city’s mask mandate.
The archdiocese said students and staff in its suburban schools may continue to wear masks if they choose to, and it recommends that unvaccinated students and staff mask up.
Students are still required to wear masks on school buses under federal law.
