PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia City Council will return to live in-person meetings this fall.

Council President Darrell Clarke made that announcement in a letter sent Wednesday.

The move follows two years of remote and virtually-conducted business due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clarke said that though the people's business in City Council will return to in-person, Council members and staff will continue to practice safe health measures, and mask-wearing is recommended. Citizens attending Council meetings will be given a mask to use.

The first live, in-person Council meeting will happen Thursday, Sept. 22 in City Hall.

However, committee hearings will remain virtual for the time being.

Council will also conduct a virtually-held meeting on Thursday, Sept. 15. People can watch Council meetings here.
