PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Camden County school district has issued a two-hour delay for its schools, but the reason has nothing to do with the weather.
The Gloucester City School District announced a two-hour delay for Monday, Feb. 13, the day after the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
Kickoff for the Super Bowl is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12. Traditionally, with the extended Super Bowl halftime show, the end of the game comes around or after 10 p.m.
“It is a rare and special time for families to watch our local professional team compete in the Super Bowl,” said Superintendent Sean Gorman in a letter to district staff.
“We feel that it's important to give students and staff the opportunity to enjoy the game with their families and still attend school and work the next day safely and well-rested.”
The superintendent also mentioned they hope to avoid staffing issues among the district's three schools that Monday.
