Philly Police Department’s Twitter account apparently hacked

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It appears the Philadelphia Police Department’s Twitter account was hacked overnight.

Around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, the @PhillyPolice account started posting links to articles about business news.

The display name on the account was changed to “Business Helper,” and the profile photo showed a woman sitting at an office desk.

The account’s older posts with surveillance photos and information about crimes still exist. The department’s account was restored shortly thereafter.
