PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say a man crashed into several parked cars early Thursday morning in the Harrowgate section of the city. But when they got a closer look, they found out he had actually been shot and killed.
Police started hauling away cars around 7:20 a.m. from the crash site, close to the Tioga Station El stop. The incident happened after 3 a.m.
The front left side of a white Infinity smashed up against a black SUV, which was scrunched up against a smaller Honda.
Police say the 24-year-old man who was driving the Infinity is dead. After officers got to the crash site, they saw that he had been shot several times in the stomach.
There were also bullet holes in the rear driver side.
Officials are now trying to figure out where he was when he was shot. Police say they got a report of a shooting about half a mile away, but they didn’t find any evidence.
Authorities can’t say for sure if the man was alone the whole time or had a passenger at one point, or if he was shot and then tried to drive away for help.
