PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teen girl is in critical condition after she and a teen boy were shot inside a North Philadelphia home.
Police say it was around noon Wednesday when shots rang out in the home near the corner of 11th Street and Girard Avenue in the Poplar neighborhood.
Four teens were inside, with two of them injured.
A 14-year-old girl was shot in the chest, and was in critical condition at an area hospital.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in at least one of his arms. He was listed in stable condition.
The other two teens were unharmed.
Officials say no adults were home at the time of the shooting. No weapon was initially recovered, and they are still trying to piece together what led to the shooting.
A neighbor who didn’t want to share her name has lived in the neighborhood for more than 20 years.
"Overall, it’s not a surprise for what’s been going on in the world, it’s not unexpected," the neighbor said.
"But this crime is bad now, and something needs to be done about it."
