Philadelphia Police are asking for help from the public to identify two suspects as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy.
The Police Department's homicide division released surveillance video excerpts showing the two young men they say were involved in the fatal Jan. 11 shooting in North Philly's Tioga neighborhood.
Police say the teen was shot several times that day, shortly after 5 p.m. He was found in an empty lot on West Erie Avenue off of North Broad Street and pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police believe both suspects are in their teens. One had a bushy hairstyle at the time of the shooting, and he wore a puffy black jacket, black pants, and distinctive black sneakers, and he carried a black Under Armour brand backpack.
The other suspect wore a black jacket, black pants and black New Balance sneakers with white soles at the time of the shooting. Under the jacket, he wore a green camouflage-patterned hooded sweatshirt with distinctive multicolored markings on the hood. He was carrying a red Nike brand backpack with black trim and markings.
Police advise that anyone who encounters these suspects should call 911 immediately and not approach them.
