PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- An early-morning fight on Friday in the Kensington neighborhood of the city turned deadly after a gunman opened fire, striking two teenagers. Philadelphia Police then shot and killed the gunman.
An investigation continues into the deadly shooting.
Officials say officers were called to Westmoreland and Emerald streets around 12:30 a.m. for a fight among neighbors.
While officers were there, trying to break up a group of 10 to 15 people, police say, a man in his 40s pulled a gun out and shot two teens in the neck.
"Both of those police officers, in a 24th District wagon, discharged at that male who was firing, striking him several times. Unfortunately that male was pronounced dead," Sgt. Eric Gripp said.
Officials say the gunman shot and killed a 15-year-old boy and wounded a 17-year-old boy. No officers were hurt.
Police say a 9mm handgun was recovered from the scene, and it was determined to have been stolen out of the state of Virginia.
