PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police arrested a man they say killed his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend early Tuesday morning.
Police were called at around 1:30 a.m. to go to a home on Alden Street near Kingsessing Avenue in the Kingsessing section of the city.
There, police say, they found 26-year-old Arnold Kirksey shot in the chest several times, bleeding heavily and unconscious. Officers rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say he had been shot by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.
"[The suspect] went up to the second floor, had a verbal altercation with the victim, and that’s when shots were fired, striking this victim in the chest," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Officers later went to the suspect’s home in the area of 25th and Mifflin streets. Initially, police believe, the man barricaded himself in his home, but when the SWAT team went in, they found that the suspect was not inside.
Police have not yet released the suspect’s identity. Police did not say where they eventually found him.
