SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — On the first day of legal recreational marijuana sales in New Jersey last week, the state raked in nearly $1.9 million, according to the state Cannabis Regulatory Commission.

Sales kicked off on April 21 at 12 dispensaries statewide, serving more than 12,000 adult customers on just the first day.

Thirteen dispensaries have been approved by the state for recreational sales. The 13th facility, Curaleaf in Edgewater Park, has yet to officially open because of an apparent parking issue.

While lines have been long, state officials said there has been little to no negative impact on medical cannabis patients.
