PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman and a 9-year-old girl are hospitalized after a car hit them and then drove into a building in Roxborough Friday afternoon. Two passengers in the car were also injured.

Now the search is on for the driver.

Police say that just after 12:30 p.m Friday, a man driving north on Henry Avenue in a silver 2010 Nissan Maxima hit the 32-year-old woman and the girl as they crossed the road, before losing control of the car and hitting a vacant building near Jamestown Avenue.

“The car came up speeding,” witness Rick Pasceri said. “Right about Wendover {Street] she got hit, went airborne and landed again in the street.”

The young girl was flung to the side.

“He swerved to miss her again,” Pasceri said, “and ended up coming into the building.”

The woman was severely injured and is in critical condition. The girl has an injury to her ankle and is in stable condition.

The driver jumped out of the car and ran from the scene. Police say there were two female passengers in that silver Nissan. They were transported to Einstein Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver’s whereabouts are still unknown.

Police ask that if you have any information on this case, you should call 911.
