PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Now that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has given the green light to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to kids aged 5 to 11, the School District of Philadelphia is setting up clinics for children to get their shots.
“We will be providing some clinics both in our schools and in other health care facilities for young people who were interested in receiving those,” said Superintendent William Hite.
The clinics will be set up in partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium.
The district surveyed parents, and Hite said most wanted their children to get the shot.
“Of the roughly 2,000 people who responded, 63% have indicated that they are strongly interested or interested in their children receiving the vaccine,” he said.
Hite plans to release details on clinic locations in the next several weeks.
