
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — At least 3 people are dead and several are injured after four separate shootings over the weekend in Philadelphia.
Police say a double shooting in North Philadelphia Friday night killed a 41-year-old man and left a 28-year-old fighting for his life after. It happened on the 4900 block of Old York Road.
Then, on Saturday, a 39-year-old man died and two others were injured after a shooting in Kensington.
Police say it happened around 5 p.m. near Madison and F streets. The man was shot five times and transported to a nearby hospital where he died minutes later. The two other victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to the hospital and are in critical condition.
A few hours later, around 9 p.m., police say a 29-year-old was shot right outside of Independence Mall.
He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Police say later that night, a man drove himself to a hospital after being shot in the arm. He says he was injured in the Independence Mall shooting.
And on Sunday, a gunman fled into the woods after shooting a woman in a hotel in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police say it happened around 2 a.m. at Motel 6 off Roosevelt Boulevard in the city's Somerton neighborhood.
They say the 43-year old woman was taken to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition.
Our partners at NBC10 report that police sent a SWAT team to the woods near the hotel, but no arrests have been made.
According to the Philly’s Controller Office, there have been nearly 300 homicides in the city so far this year.
