SEPTA police looking for suspect in Center City bus assault

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — SEPTA police are searching for a man they said attacked a female passenger on a bus in Center City early Sunday morning.

Authorities said it happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday on the Market-Frankford Line Night Owl bus, near 8th and Market streets. The man, wearing a black coat over a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, allegedly approached a woman who was seated, and demanded she give up her seat.

When the woman refused, police said the man punched her in the face and pushed her, then fled the bus.

The driver immediately contacted SEPTA police. The victim was taken to a hospital. Officials said her injuries are not life-threatening.
