PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Just in time for holiday shopping, SEPTA’s online store is back.
If you want a SEPTA hat, T-shirt or miniature train, now you don’t have to go to SEPTA’s physical store at its 1234 Market St. headquarters to get it. The online store at shop.septa.org returned this month.
The store was taken down in 2019 after nearly 800 customers had their names, addresses and credit card numbers stolen from the site.
SEPTA Chief Information Officer Bill Zebrowski said the previous system was built internally. But now, the new online store is run through a third party: e-commerce host Shopify.

He said SEPTA is confident the store is safe again.
“We did a security review of Shopify, internally, just to make sure,” he added.
The physical store was unaffected by the hack. It reopened a year ago, after a pandemic shutdown.
