PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Glassboro, New Jersey, are investigating a shooting that happened overnight Sunday just off the campus of Rowan University.

Officials told NBC10 that the incident occurred just after 2:30 a.m., along Main Street, across the street from the campus entrance.

Police said the shooting was near Landmark, a popular off-campus bar.

Ethan Woods said he was taking his nightly stroll and saw the police presence.

“There was a couple, couple cop cars that flew in and a lot of, a lot of lights on the boulevard and apparently, we got an alert at 2:40 a.m. that there was a shooting that took place over by the landmark, the bar over on campus,” Woods said.

Another student, Julian, was asleep but saw the campus alert in the morning.

“I get the occasional email about like a sexual assault or like a drink spiking or something like that, but like nothing that bad since I got here,” he said.

Campus officials said no students were involved in the shooting.

As of Sunday afternoon, there is no word yet on a motive or if anyone was injured in the shooting, according to officials.

Woods said that despite the incident, police presence around campus usually makes him feel safe.

“It's gonna be an everyday occurrence or at least I hope not, but I know there's a lot of like cops that always patrol campus like they're, they're always ready and they do a good job, at like making me feel comfortable when I walk around here,” he said.

Glassboro police said they are working with the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, and the investigation is ongoing.
