PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was arrested for shooting two people at Snyder Station along the Broad Street Line in South Philadelphia Wednesday night. According to police, one of the victims was not the intended target.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on the subway platform on the northbound side of the station.

SEPTA officials said a man was accompanying a 30-year-old woman to meet with the father of her child regarding a custody issue. The 37-year-old father brought several people with him, and police said a fight broke out.

During the fight, police said the first man brandished a gun and fired shots. Not only was the father hit, but he accidentally shot the woman in the leg.

Officers on patrol in the area of Broad Street and Snyder Avenue heard gunshots. They saw a woman run up the stairs from the station.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. The man was more seriously injured than the woman — he was shot in the back — but officials said he improved overnight.

Officers saw the shooter running away from the scene and chased after him. They caught up with him and arrested him. They also recovered a gun, police said.

Following the investigation, 29-year-old Saquan Ausborne was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related gun offenses. He is being held on $1.1 million bail.
