PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Doc Rivers' first season as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers has been very successful. Just Wednesday, the 41-21 Sixers clinched a playoff spot with their 127-83 domination of the Atlanta Hawks.

That success aside, COVID-19 safety restrictions have prevented Rivers from living the fullest, richest experience of working in Philadelphia: its world-class food scene. But he did say Wednesday, prior to the game, that that he has had at least a taste of the sensational cuisine available in the city.

"It’s nice that it’s opening up a little bit more, that we can go out, all of us, and enjoy it a little bit, not much, with the restrictions we still have," he said. "I’ve probably gained 15 pounds through the good food in Philadelphia. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. My taste buds say good."

After the game, Rivers demurred when asked about his favorites.

"Oh my gosh. I have too many, and I’m not naming any, because then I would piss off the other restaurants. But a lot of Italian food. Let’s me just say that. It’s really good restaurants here."
