PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The local beer strike is over.

About 3,100 members of Teamsters Local 830 overwhelmingly ratified a new four-year contract Saturday morning with the Delaware Valley Importing Distribution Association.

The new contract includes wage increases, increased pensions, additional 401(K) contributions, new and reduced work hours, and holiday pay.

In a statement, Secretary-Treasurer Daniel Grace said, “The Local 830 members who stood shoulder to shoulder on our picket lines for the past week are the real heroes in this victory. Their solidarity was truly inspiring.”

The agreement brings an end to a week-long strike that threatened consumers’ supply of beer, just days away from the long July Fourth holiday weekend.
