PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are asking for help in identifying and finding the pictured man whom they say is wanted in connection to a shooting death Thursday.
It happened at about 6:30 p.m. near 52nd Street and Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia. Police on scene described it as linked to possible road rage.
Police said that the man is Black with thin build. He was wearing a blue and white Troy Lee Designs GP Yamaha Jersey long sleeve shirt with graphic patches on the sleeves. According to police, the man also had on blue jeans, white sneakers, and a black full-face mask.
Investigators say the man was using a green dirt bike when the shooting happened.
According to initial police reports, the driver pulled over at that location so that his friend could go into a convenience store. While the friend was in the store, police say the killer stopped after following the car.
"[The dirt bike] made a U-turn on Girard Avenue, came back, and at point blank range, fired six shots at the driver of the vehicle," Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said at the scene.
Investigators, based on interviews with the friend who went into the store, say it is possible that this violence stemmed from road rage at a different location.
"Preliminary investigation also shows there may have been multiple motorcycles involved initially," Pace said. "One of which returned and opened fire on this vehicle."
Three deaths were among the result of a series of shootings in Philadelphia during a three-and-a-half hour period on Thursday.
